Hunter Army Airfield Fire Dept. receives training.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Army firefighters with the Hunter Army Airfield Fire Department received vital training with the help of firefighter Marines based at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

The Marines brought their Mobile Aircraft Firefighting Training Device to provide the Hunter staff a unique live firefighting experience. The device mimics many features found on a real passenger aircraft, and is able to produce fireballs on the inside and outside of the aircraft, based on the actions of the firefighters participating in the drills.

"It's so few and far between that we incur an incident such as this so to have access to a real world type of device like this, that's top of the line, state of the art piece of equipment is vital," said John Rodgers.

About 35 fighters were able to go through this training over the last four days.
