Marine helicopter makes emergency landing on Southern California beach

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. - A 100-foot-long Marine Corps helicopter has been removed from a North San Diego County beach after making an emergency landing Wednesday.

The CH53E Super Stallion was removed from the beach around 3:30 p.m. No injuries or damage have been reported.

The helicopter flew to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and 10 News learned it would remain at that location overnight for additional repairs.

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar officials said a low oil pressure indicator light in the cockpit led the crew of the CH-53E Super Stallion to land on Del Mar Shores Beach in Solana Beach.
