Pfc. Juan
Castro, 19, a resident of San Antonio, was riding in a Humvee with other three
soldiers, when the vehicle crashed. Castro was crushed to death. The other
soldiers were injured, but not in life-threatening conditions, Army officials
said.
The four
soldiers were transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
According to
the release, posted Thursday, Castro had entered the Texas Army National Guard
in February of 2014 as a cavalry scout. During his service, he was assigned to
several infantry and cavalry divisions. Castro was awarded the National Defense
Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
