A crash
involving a Camp Lejeune Humvee and a dump truck has injured at least two
Marines.
The accident
happened around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 50 between Holly Ridge and Maple Hill.
The Humvee
caught fire and two Marines were injured.
The Humvee
and a dump truck, owned by Skippers Well Drilling from Leland, collided on the
highway.
There was
extensive damage to the front of the military vehicle, which then caught fire.
The inside of the Humvee was charred by the flames.
Marines say
the accident happened right outside a gate that leads to base property.
A spokesman says the driver and assistant
driver were taken to Naval Hospital.
