U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Edward York, an aircraft rescue and firefighting specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, operates a P19 firefighting vehicle at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 12, 2018. The training was conducted in order to maintain proficiency extinguishing aircraft fires in support of the air station's mission of launching and recovering aircraft. Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting is a special category of firefighting that involves the response, hazard mitigation, evacuation and possible rescue of passengers and crew of an aircraft involved in a ground emergency.
