Fort Irwin National Night Out

Bryson FORT IRWIN, Calif.– The Fort Irwin Department of Emergency Services (DES) hosted an all-ages event promoting neighborhood safety and cooperation during National Night Out (NNO) October 6, 2023, at the post theater, here. DES partners including post law enforcement officers, firefighters and other on-post security departments presented demonstrations and static displays featuring equipment, vehicles, and fire and crime prevention tips aimed at raising safety awareness and strengthening community bonds.

AFSBn-Benelux takes part in 80-year commemoration of downed WWII B-17 bomber, crew

On Oct. 14, 1943, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-17F Flying Fortress heavy bomber traveling from Royal Air Force Base Chelveston, England, on its way to conduct a bombing mission of industrial targets in central Germany was shot down by a Nazi fighter aircraft and crashed in Eygelshoven. Four U.S. aircrew members died, one aircrew member is still listed as missing in action, and five crew members survived but were taken prisoner of war by the Nazis. After many months in captivity, all five surviving POWs were liberated and returned to the U.S.

Moody 2023 Fire Prevention Week


Story by Airman 1st Class Sir Wyrick October 16, 2023 at 04:15PM MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – The Airmen of the 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department set Fire Prevention Week ablaze with the annual signing of the fire proclamation by U.S. Air Force Col. Paul Sheets, 23rd Wing commander, followed by various events held on Oct. 9 – Oct. 13, 2023. Every year, nationwide, fire prevention is held during the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago fire of 1871. During this week of recognition and education, organizations from around Moody and the 23 CES Fire Department engage with the community through different activities and various demonstrations to help promote fire safety to Airmen and their families.
