USS Carl Vinson

230409-N-TY704-1002 PACIFIC OCEAN (April 9, 2023) A photo story layout and design about the crash and salvage team aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70, used in the “Wingspan”, the shipboard magazine publication aboard Vinson. The photos were edited in muted tones or black and white to make just the red pop, which is the color of the team members’ jerseys and also the color that symbolizes fire or danger. The photos were places in a hexagonal pattern, like the hexagons that hold the air tanks that the crash and salvage team stores in their connex box. Vinson is currently underway conducting Group Sail. Group Sail demonstrates Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group’s ability to rapidly aggregate the strike group units and provides an opportunity to conduct progress training to enhance levels of excellence, increase lethality and tactical proficiency of U.S. Navy units operating in the 3rd Fleet area of operation.
