Army Reserve Supports McConnell AFB Frontiers in Flight Air Show

Derek Cobb September 17, 2024 at 03:52PM WICHITA, Kansas – 451st ESC Soldiers supported and participated in the Frontiers in Flight Air Show on McConnell Air Force Base from Aug. 24-25, to help air show attendees stay cool and educate them on some of the abilities of the U.S. Army. We were joined by Soldiers from the 323rd Engineer Detachment Firefighters; Company B, 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, 11th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade; and HHC, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

Following what is known as the “Rookie Book,” their initial training generally takes up to four months before they can then begin their upgrade training. The Royal Air Force Mildenhall Fire Department has now created their own “Rookie Academy,” and slashed that training time to three weeks.

(September 9, 2024) – Firefighters at Presidio of Monterey Fire Station 1 took a brief “paws” recently when King, a seven-year-old German shepherd therapy dog stopped by. King was eagerly greeted by the firefighters and made his rounds to visit with everyone present.

On Sept. 11, firefighters and military personnel gathered at the Fritz Walter Stadium here to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, which claimed the lives of 2,763 individuals, including 343 New York City firefighters.
