Exercise, Exercise, Exercise: 162nd Wing hosts Active Shooter and Mass Accident Response Exercises with community partners

Guadalupe Beltran May 19, 2025 at 05:11PM The exercises tested interagency coordination in responding to active shooter and mass accident response scenarios, reinforcing the commitment to defending the homeland and supporting state and federal missions. The two scenarios were a simulated active shooter incident in one of the hangars and a simulated aircraft incident on the runway involving multiple casualties. The exercises involved security forces, medical personnel, firefighters, and emergency management from participating agencies.

Davis-Monthan Fire Department Wins DoD Award

Idaho Army National Gaurd, Boise Fire Department conducts water rescue

Robert Taylor May 15, 2025 at 04:51PM Today the Idaho Army National Guard’s State Aviation Group, working with the Boise Fire Department, assisted in the rescue of two rafters on the Owyhee River in Malheur County, Oregon. Two individuals were rafting Wednesday, when their raft capsized and became pinned on rocks in the middle of the river.

LEAD Employees Recognized for local Wildfire Support


Story by Todd Wivell May 14, 2025 at 09:47AM Recognizing 17 employees’ efforts in battling a local wildfire, Col. Donald Santillo, Letterkenny Army Depot commander, and Sgt. Maj. Troy Gearhart, LEAD sergeant major, presented awards and coins during a recognition ceremony on May 7. From April 23 through April 27, 15 LEAD firefighters and two LEAD Environmental Division personnel supported the large-scale wildfire suppression efforts in the Michaux State Park and Thompson Hollow areas in Cumberland and Franklin counties, Pennsylvania.
