First Bahraini Civilian Firefighter Graduates from DOD Fire Academy


Story by Petty Officer 1st Class Shayla Hamilton August 22, 2024 at 04:06AM (MANAMA, Bahrain) For the first time, a Bahraini civilian employee at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain has completed the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Fire Academy in San Angelo, Texas. Abdulla Albalooshi, a firefighter with NSA Bahrain’s Fire and Emergency Services Department, graduated from the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy.

Growing up, Staff Sgt. Leonardo Mullin, 908th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter crew chief, had three ambitions: to become a police officer, to become a firefighter or to serve in the military.

Currently, at the 908th Flying Training Wing, he is a military firefighter.

Ready for the Challenge: Nevada National Guard's Wildland Firefighting Line Crew Certification

Twenty-eight soldiers from northern and southern Nevada have completed certification as Type 2 wildland firefighters, enhancing regional firefighting capabilities through a partnership between the Nevada Division of Forestry and the Nevada Army National Guard. They gained skills in line digging, fire procedures, and tool operations. Staff Sergeant Cameron Fricke, a key participant, aspires to advance within the military while honoring his family's firefighting legacy.
