During the April Battle Training Assembly, the 709th Trans. Company conducted shipboard firefighting and damage control training at the Joint Fire Training and Emergency Services Readiness Response Center in Bremerton, Wash. Participants ranged in rank from private to chief warrant officer 3. Fifty Soldiers, under the direct supervision of 10 instructors, participated in basic marine firefighting and damage control training in order to maintain their proficiency in these highly perishable and lifesaving skills. Following the crawl, walk and run principle, Soldiers began each day with a classroom session reviewing firefighting principles followed by a hands-on walk through (ROC Drill) and finally a culminating event of fighting actual fires in a controlled environment.
